Schedule Maker Instructions
  1. In the drop down menu, choose the semester for which you would like to create a schedule.
  2. In the box labeled Courses, enter in the classes you want to take (i.e. CMSC250, HIST225, etc.), separated by spaces or commas. These are classes that you feel must be in your schedule. Instead of typing in a full class, you can:
    • Enter CMSC to create schedules with any CMSC courses.
    • Enter CMSC4 to create schedules with any 400-level CMSC courses.
    • Enter "HL", "PS", or other such CORE acronyms to create schedules that satisfy a given CORE requirement.
  3. You may enter CMSC424(0101) or CMSC424:0101 to limit yourself to one section.
  4. In the box labeled Optional Courses, enter in the classes that are not required but you would like to fit into your schedule. The more you put in, the more options the Schedule Maker will give you. You can use all the same shorthands (like CMSC4 and "HL") that you used for the Required Courses.)
  5. In the Minimum/Maximum Credits boxes, enter in the respective number of credits you would like your schedule to fall in between.
  6. In the Waitlist Limit box, enter in the maximum number of waitlisted students you will allow for a class in your schedule.
  7. In the Results per page box, enter in the amount of results you would like to be able to view at once (if you have a slower connection, you should chose a smaller number.)
  8. In the excluded times section, choose a day of the week (or all days) and a time frame from which you do not want to have classes and click the add button.
  9. After adding any excluded times, you may click the red X next to the time in order to delete that exclusion. You may also click the Delete All button to delete them all at once.
  10. Finally, click the Make Schedule button and a list of schedules based on your specifications will appear. If no schedule appears, try changing some of your specifications and clicking the Make Schedule button again.
  11. Once you have you have several schedules listed, there are a few tools you can use to gain a better knowledge of you schedule:
    • Hovering over a class on the schedule will bring up the professor's grade distribution for that class.
    • Clicking on the class in the schedule or the class name on the side, will bring you to a page detailing the grade distribution of the class over several semesters along with a list of teachers who have taught it
    • If you have an OurUMD account, clicking on the save schedule button will allow you to save that particular schedule for later reference.
