I found Dr. Wish to be the ideal teacher for he's strict about doing your work but if you are a good student, he's very fair and understanding. His class was probably one of the most rewarding classes I have ever taken. He really cares about his students and definitely wants you to succeed. Very understanding, very kind. He's an easy teacher if he knows that you are trying and are not slacking off so DON'T SLACK OFF or he will call you out. However, I highly recommend him and I definitely think that everyone should take this class to learn about the stock market. You do not have to be a stock market enthusiast to enjoy this class but I guarantee you will become one (even if you have no idea what it's about.. like I was)

It's a lot of work but you learn a lot too. He's very understanding in that he knows that trading stocks isn't for everyone. I tried out the class because I wanted to learn about the stock market, but after going through the trading simulation I realized that I really didn't have the passion for trading stocks.

That being said, he expects you to keep up with the readings and put some effort into the assignments. At the end of the trading simulation you have to compile all the records of your trades and then analyze it. Don't procrastinate on this final assignment.

This class was a LOT of work, but absolutely worth it. When you leave college, this will undoubtedly be one of the classes you look back on and know that you learned something useful.

Positives:
Like I said, this will be a class that you look back on thinking about how much you learned and how you'll use what you learned for the rest of your life. Even if you know nothing about the stock market, Dr. Wish is great at explaining the topics thoroughly and helping every student truly gain a knowledge of the stock market.

Negatives:
Dr. Wish assigns a LOT of reading, but it really is necessary. You might be able to get away with not reading a few of the articles, maybe 1 or 2 books, but in general you'll be lost without doing the reading. There are quizzes nearly every week about the reading, so make sure you keep up. About halfway through the semester the amount of assigned reading went way down, but the workload definitely stays high. You will be required to participate in a simulated stock market competition and it is a LOT of work.

If you are looking for a rewarding class, despite the high workload, take this course with Dr. Wish. It's worth it.

This was an exceptionally challenging class, particularly because I had absolutely no knowledge of anything pertaining to stocks before i took the course. However, it was one of the most rewarding courses I have taken here at the university. Professor Wish was an excellent teacher, and did everything possible to guide students to practical approaches to the stock market. He had many resources and guest speakers to provide a spectrum of opinions and ideas. He was very approachable, and would answer any question fairly and objectively. He assigned many helpful projects, but the workload is very tough. I highly recommend this course, for its practical applicability in the real world, as long as you don't mind the reading and projects.
