Reviews for Mahlon R. Straszheim
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: HONR258Y Grade Expected: A January 14, 2009, 12:17 am | One of the most likable professors I've had so far. I didn't find econ to be the most exciting subject, but Straszheim made it easy to understand and relevant to me (an engineering major). He definitely knows his stuff and completely understands that not all of us are business/econ majors. |
| babygnau Course: HONR258Y Grade Expected: December 8, 2008, 10:28 pm | Straszheim is an amazing professor. He is a genius at econ and is great at passing his knowledge to his students. He wants so to see everyone receive an A and is not a hard grader. He curves the class massively, or at least he did for HONR258Y. Definitely take this guy for whatever class you can, you will not regret it. |
| mac2010 Course: HONR258Y Grade Expected: A January 17, 2008, 5:42 pm | Mahlon...oh the days! I took this class my first semester and found it refreshing from my agonizing engineering classes. Mahlon is extremely knowledgeable and easy grader. Sitting in his class I picked up a lot of information about him besides Maryland. For instance he does economic projections for the state, so you know he is baller at econ. Take him for whatever he teaches |
| nodice Course: ECON200 Grade Expected: A+ December 19, 2007, 7:39 am | Straszheim was one of the best professors I've had at Maryland. He's engaging and knowledgeable, his explanations are very clear, and he offers lots of analogies to help people grasp some of the more abstract concepts. He's also very well-prepared for each lecture, and is quite patient when people ask questions. Yes, ECON 200 is probably the easiest 4-credit course at the university. And yes, you probably don't need to go to lecture to do well -- a lot of people just read the book and learn from their mistakes on the Aplia assignments. But if you're lucky enough to get Straszheim, you're much better off going to lecture and paying attention. You probably won't have to do any outside studying, and you'll learn a lot more. |
| kbe12478 Course: HONR258Y Grade Expected: A | One of the greatest teachers I have had. He was really nice and was incredibly knowledgeable when it came to everything economical in nature. In the honors seminar, he astutely realized that none of us were econ majors, so he went fairly easy on us, and graded very generously. I learned a lot in this class. You do need to read a lot and there are two papers and two exams, but once again, Mahlon will look kindly upon you. |
