Reviews for Stanley J. Odell
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: PHIL100 Grade Expected: A April 2, 2008, 7:09 am | Lectures were boring and did not keep my attention at all, and Odell is pompous and arogant about his beliefs (he is an aethist). He showed no respect or tolorance of other beleifs. Its still not that hard to get a good grade, but that depends on your TA since they do all the grading, and catching you up on the material. |
| Anonymous Course: PHIL100 Grade Expected: A January 1, 2008, 5:54 pm | Odell's class really isn't hard at all, the TAs do most of the work for you, all you really have to do for the exams is memorize. I didn't do any of the homework readings, I just showed up to most of the lectures and all of the discussions and I got an A. It's really an easy class, not a lot of work is involved. |
| kbe12478 Course: PHIL100 Grade Expected: A | Odell is a great lecturer, but he requires a lot of effort in papers and on essay tests. You do not need the textbook. Odell threatens students the first day of class, saying that he WILL change your beliefs, because he is an agnostic. The way he teaches about religion in general is that it is complete folly, and it is bad for society to accept or promote religion. Being a a religious student, my beliefs were not changed at all. Odell merely spoke from opinion, failing to credibly argue against religious teachings, and it really was more comical than anything. I think he strengthened my beliefs in all actuality, because, having seen his perspective on religion, I feel better about my own. |
