Reviews for Theodore B. Leinwand
Average Rating:| Jessica Lee Archer Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: B December 13, 2011, 9:46 am | I though that this teacher's expectations were too high, the reading was too demanding for me personally. If you have o take this class I recommend fining audio books on project Gutenberg. The only reason I took off stars was because my TA was unhelpful, and graded waaay to harshly. I'm not taking Shakespeare again. |
| Anonymous Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: A January 12, 2011, 10:13 am | to learn about the best, you need to learn from the best. definitely a favorite teacher. extremely engaging, great stories that relate to the class material, truly knowledgable about the crazy sexual/physical/theological controversies in shakespearean plays. workload was not that of an easy A class, though it was relatively simple. approximately 7-8 plays, 300 word quiz on each play, two papers, and one easy final exam. final exam was very simple if you took good notes about what he said in class. |
| Anonymous Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: A January 4, 2011, 7:40 pm | My favorite professor I've had at UMD so far! He's funny, provocative and makes the material relatable and come alive. I wasn't a huge Shakespeare fan to begin with, but he has made me love it and appreciate the plays more than I ever have before. Leinwand reminds me of why I became an English major. If you have the chance, take his class, you won't be sorry! |
| Anonymous Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: B+ December 22, 2010, 1:47 pm | He was my favorite teacher of the semester. He was really engaging and his lectures were so interesting. I was intoxicated every class. He uses humor and his vast knowledge to engage the class. All you have to do is read the plays and pay attention in class. The final was directly from his lectures. Oh, when I read the plays, I read them while I watched a performance online. It was much more helpful in my understanding. |
| lamewad Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: A May 21, 2010, 3:40 pm | Prof. Leinwand is very engaging, funny, knowledgeable, and insightful. His class was a pleasure to attend. The workload was not bad at all, and it was actually fun. The final exam was ridiculously easy. |
| SAK2011 Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: A December 14, 2009, 4:54 pm | Professor Leinwand is awesome. His lectures are exciting and informative. He is funny and makes the material easily understandable. The class has a fairly light workload. You'll read about 7 plays during the semester and each one has a short 300 word take home quiz that's really easy if you do the reading. There are two papers and one pretty easy final. I'd definitely recommend this class. |

| atrylindin Course: ENGL304 Grade Expected: December 30, 2008, 2:16 pm | This class was a wonderful experience! Professor Leinwand gave two background lectures on theatre in Shakespeare's time, and lectured on eight plays that the class read. His lectures were engaging and interesting. ENGL304 was my favorite class of the term. Assignments included reading the 8 plays, which was perfect and easy to keep up with, two papers, and a 300 word quiz on each play. I got a lot out of this course and the workload was very reasonable. Would definitely recommend! |
