Reviews for Zickert, C
Average Rating:| zhangsta Course: MATH406 Grade Expected: A December 24, 2011, 7:09 am | Dr. Zickert lectures in a weird way; he'll go through one topic in lecture, and then go into a fair amount of detail about the next topic in the last 10-15 minutes of class and then flesh it out in the next lecture. His handwriting is near indecipherable sometimes, but so are most math professors'. He's is a pretty quirky guy who has a clear love of math that he tries to impart on the class, but it's not exactly well-received by most people. His grading policy is 10% homework, 10% quizzes, two midterms at 25% each, and 30% final. His quizzes consisted of 2-3 problems from the two homeworks assigned before the quiz. The exam averages were ~45% and the cutoffs were 35-70% for a B, >70% were A's. Half of the points on the exams were from computations and the other half were from proofs. The exams were designed to test your intuition for math more than anything, because if you did a proof incorrectly or if your logic was flawed, you wouldn't get any points for the proof. He also doesn't allow calculators on his exams, but the upside of that is that the numbers he uses are so simple that the computations are just easy points. |
