Reviews for Jie Zhang
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: BMGT353 Grade Expected: A February 19, 2012, 4:18 pm | For some reason, marketing classes bore me out of my mind. To put it frankly, over 90% of the material taught in marketing classes are common sense. I have no clue why this is even a major. This class was no different. Typical boring book and lectures that conveys common sense material packaged together with vocabulary words that aren't used by every day people to make it seem like a subject worth learning. Meh. I only took the class because the textbook was so cheap, but didn't open it once throughout the entire semester and still got an A. The only thing about the class that I would say was positive was that the professor was enthusiastic. |

In addition she gets flustered when you look at her so don't be alarmed if she turns beet red or starts to blabber about nonsense. Choose her 5/5 times over any other professor. |

She's smart, she knows her stuff, she's INCREDIBLY nice, and she tries so hard to make class fun and engaging; she really values student input from the bottom of her heart, and she tries to reach out to students in a very personal way. The class itself is extremely easy. There's only 1 midterm exam, 3 Field Studies, a semester long group project, and the Final. The Midterm was very easy; I just reviewed the lecture notes and got an A+ on it. The field studies are really simple and you basically get credit just for doing them! All they consist of is 2-3 double spaced pages about some retail topic. She even says you don't need to worry about making the writing that great. The group project isn't bad at all; it's just a paper and a presentation. As long as you get a good group of people, you should be able to do it very easily. Plus you choose your topic and ours was really interesting, so I had fun doing it. Finally, the final isn't bad either. You learn a lot from this class about retail concepts and I loved the material. I thought Zhang was very understanding and approachable, and she can explain any concept with ease! If you take 353, TAKE IT WITH ZHANG!! |

The only problem is that she LOVES to talk, which makes lectures boring. if she didnt take attendance, class would be pointless. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. literally nothing from the book is on the exams or discussed in class. im not sure why we have one. you just have to buy a small case packet for $10. the class isnt hard, it isnt exciting, but the teacher really wants you to do well. its basically two tests and one big project with 3 little projects graded 100% if you do them. |
