for ECON201 with Terrell, you do not need to go to lecture or friday discussions - they are boring and useless. instead you can learn the material from the questions on myeconlab and powerpoint slides on myeconlab that are from the textbook. do your homework, it is easy and you can do it unlimited amounst so you always get 100%. there is a nice curve provided at the end of the semster which helps to boost grades.

Terrell + economics = terrible combo

he knows his stuff (worked in the Fed for years) but is a terrible teacher. Uses the slides the textbook provide and doesn't do a lot of additional explaining. He has really poor communication with his TAs. He always assumes they put up the MyEconLab assignments in time for the due date he wants...multiple times I had to ask him when he was going to put them up only to hear that they already are up (but they aren't) and then get an email from the TA a day later saying he has uploaded the latest assignment. Curve isn't as strong as it should be.

On the plus side, his MyEconLab assignments are relatively easier compared to Neri's. I got 100% on all of them which is the only thing that prevented me from failing this class because of the 3 ridiculous exams.

Prof. Terrell was just overall a great guy. Yes the lectures tended to be a little dry but if you paid attention he really knew his stuff well. Used to work at the Fed and really explained monetary policy well. Also every once in a while he would crack a really nerdy econ joke that was pretty funny. Finally the finals were graded and posted less than 24 hours after we took them...very impressive.

I think Professor Terrell is a really great guy who knows his economics unbelievably well. He means best for his class and when I went to lecture, I found it helpful since he simplifies everything. However, I hardly went since it tended to be boring and I hated the atmosphere of the class (bad lighting, too open). He's hilarious when he mumbles to himself about something he doesn't like.

The tests are challenging but he's so fair with the curve. He says he curves to be fair but makes them hard since some people "are actually smart" hahaha. He's such a cool guy. I think the worst part of the class was the book. The book just isn't written too well in my opinion.

The class is boring. There's no way around it. The questions on the test sometime seem brand new and other times seem reasonable. The homeworks can be tough.

But he is a nice guy and so I bumped him from the 3 I wanted to give to a 4. So nice in face that he claims he wont make any exceptions on due dates but he did it for two people (one was me) that I know of.

I also missed the final due to dislocating my shoulder and missing class for a month (long string of bad occurrences) and he let me just take a make up a few days later (after claiming he would not let there be any alternate finals).

So he's a nice guy, and if you have to take the class its not totally worthless, just hard. It's a UMD econ class-- take that for what it is... I've had worse in the econ deparment.

I am currently taking Terrell's econ201 course right now and I have to say, he is by far the worst professor that I have run into. I believe 100% that he knows all there is to know about economics but he absolutely cannot teach it. His lectures aren't engaging and to make matters even worse, his TA isn't helpful either because cannot articulate the material that he goes over.

This class is a huge pain in the ass because it requires that you sit down and teach yourself everything..or else you will be lost.

I thought Terrell was a pretty hard prof, not so much for 201, but 305 was a royal pain in the a**. thankfully, we had a really good TA who dropped hints about the exam, and "generously" helped us out on the homework assignments. the class was boring, there were days when only 9 or 10 students would show up (class of 80+ students btw). don't bother attending, its a natural waste of time. all the MCQs were based on graphs, so make sure you know ALL the graphs by heart. whats on the x-axis and y-axis, what shifts the curves up and down etc. he curves, but it isn't as substantial as people claim it to be, so don't rely on it

You should not have a problem with this course if you take Terrell.

I personally went to every lecture except one, but I was in the minority. CourseCompass study guides and practice quizzes are really good to prepare for his tests. His curves make up for the rest.

Henry Terrell is a pretty solid teacher. He definitely knows his economics. His lectures can be a bit boring, and many students don't go. He tells nerdy economics jokes that are pretty funny.

I also took him for ECON200, so I liked him enough to take him again for 201. The online homework can be difficult, but the curve is nice.

Dr. Terrell is a nice person and he knows his economics, but he does not teach it well.

Lectures are outrageously boring, and based entirely on powerpoint slides that he puts online. There were 2 tests and a final. They were all multiple choice and tended to have little to do directly with lecture or the textbook.

There were also online homework assignments that were time consuming and confusing, but more related to the textbook than the exams, and one written assignment which was actually the easiest thing assigned.

He has an amazing curve. I got an A out of the class, but it was a frustrating, stressful experience that I wouldn't recommend.

I think he hates his job. He seems like all he wants to do during the class is leave. The class was hard and I found it difficult to study for. The questions on the test are deceptively hard. And the lectures were very boring.

extremely boring lectures, and yes I actually went to them.
Everything from lecture is on the powerpoints, but he doesn't really elaborate on things to it's hard to grasp concepts.
Aplia was a pain in the butt.

Curve was nice though.

Large class size, like 600. Lectures are always on a powerpoint and are very dry. Can be the longest hour of your life. Does a good job of preparing you for his tests. The class is very predictable and completely online. Many students do well in the class and do not even go to the lectures choosing instead to do it by themselves online. No written work, no essays, 2 mid-terms, and a final.

Easy class, three exams and online homework each week. Powerpoints are posted on the course website. Class was pretty boring, though he'll answer questions about current issues but you have to raise the questions. Easy core...

Boring class. I just attended it first 2 weeks of the semester, and theres no incentive to get up at 9.30 for it. He dosn't explain the material well and will definitely put you to sleep.

Professor Terrell is very knowledgeable about what he teaches. Most students don't attend lecture and do well. Three exams, all multiple choice make the class easy. Aplia homeworks can be difficult, but he drops lowest four grades anyway.

All of the ECON200 professors suck, and Terrell is no different. Don't buy the book; the text mirrors his powerpoints, which he posts online. Tests are multiple choice and easy assuming you know and understand the concepts in the book on a decent level. Doing well in this class is not brain surgery, especially since he curves like WOAH at the end of the semester (in fact, my friend got 100% without the curve and went to class zero times). Plus: if you keep up with the reading/powerpoints or even if you're the type who can do it all last minute and handle it well, you never have to come to class. Minus: aplia is sometimes a pain but usually very easy (lowest few scores are dropped anyway)

easy class. i didnt go to class after the first week. everythings on aplia and in the book. if you do the practice problems online, youll be fine for the exams. like mentioned before-2 exams, aplia and final are the only grades for this class. no need for discussion either-ta's speak english very well and are hard to understand. youre better off doing problems online and going to the book if you dont understand anything. the class is way too long and boring to sit through. everyone sleeps and no one goes after the first week.
