Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: PSYC353 Grade Expected: A July 14, 2011, 2:29 pm | meh, the material in this class is very interesting but I found her lectures to be very boring. Her exams focus on the most ridiculous minute details so make sure to memorize nearly every little detail. and whoever rated her 5 stars, she took zero interest in any students concerns and never provided any outside help whatsoever so if you would please stop your obvious trolling it would be appreciated |
| Anonymous Course: PSYC433 Grade Expected: B- March 1, 2011, 12:02 pm | Her lecture is extremely boring and uninformative because she doesn't really elaborate on any of the materials. She literally reads off her power point. I honestly thought that her lecture didn't really help me with the exam at all. I attended all her lectures the first 1/3 of the semester and attempted my best to pay attention, but I still got a C in her first exam. So I decided not to come to her class any more and started studying on my own, and ended up getting better grades on her exams. The exam consists of 50 multiple-choice and 2 or 3 essay questions. Her multiple choice questions asked of the most minute detail you can ever think of from the textbook. Her essay questions were extremely difficult, again asking for minute details of the concept. Usually, for other psychology exams, I would look over the powerpoint slides couple of times and read the textbook again to understand the overall concept and I was usually well prepared. But for her class, I had to study my brain out, "memorizing" the littlest details. I cross my fingers that I will never have her again as my professor. Please avoid her at all cost. And okay, whoever rated her five stars, ummm... you must be out of your mind, or you must be herself. |
| Anonymous Course: Grade Expected: December 25, 2010, 2:28 pm | Her lectures come straight from the textbook, which means that if you do the reading, you do not have to come to class. It is difficult to get an A and I had to put in at least an hour of studying each night in order to get the grades that I wanted. While I have no way of comparing how other professors would teach the course, I would not recommend the professor. |
| psychterp12 Course: PSYC353 Grade Expected: B December 16, 2010, 5:24 pm | She reads off of the powerpoints except for things she leaves blank and she rushes through those very quickly so you have to ask her 10 times what she said. Her tests were difficult, asking questions based off of one sentence in a chapter of 100 pages. When you ask questions, she tends to just repeat what the powerpoint says or says things like "I'm not familiar with that, does anyone else know?" Which is fine, except that she is the professor and we expect her to know the material. She is enthusiastic about teaching but she speaks far too quickly for students to be able to comprehend anything. PSYC353 covers a lot of material to begin with, so if you aren't willing to put in hours and hours of extra work, I wouldn't recommend it and I wouldn't recommend Spangler. |
| Anonymous Course: PSYC355 Grade Expected: B December 15, 2010, 11:57 am | This woman is a moron. She doesn't know her material at all. Literally every class, if someone asked a question she would go "I'm actually not too familiar with that concept/study/person/whatever" then she would ask the TA. Her tests look like she made them with the book open, looking up minute details that we would never know. Avoid her at all costs. |

The class is heavily oriented on discussion of material, and she does her best to run through the lecture hall to answer any questions people have (she likes it when they ask through a microphone). If you read the book and study the notes, you can definitely get an A in the class. There are really easy weekly reading quizzes that help with grades a lot. I loved this class and she is definitely a good professor. |
