This was my second time having professor Sati. He taught very well, but I preferred him for MATH410. In 411, he taught many things toward the end of the semester geometrically as opposed to analytically, which was difficult for people with little background in geometry, or who struggle with visualizing things.

Exams were fair for both classes and were graded very leniently. So, if you can't finish a problem, write down as much as you can, including your thought process or how you would have solved the problem had you gotten further into it.

Homework for 410 was hard. Homework for 411 was sometimes hard, sometimes easy. Both courses were time-consuming, and I wouldn't recommend taking them during an otherwise tough semester. But studying hard and doing all of your work and reading should earn you an A. It just won't be completely free.

Dr. Sati was fair because he didn't expect too much from us. At least in my view, his lectures were really good. He didn't go into too much detail on the rigorous stuff but still kept us engaged. Homeworks were the hardest part of the class and our TA was pretty anal about grading. But his tests were a lot easier and still challenging enough to produce a bell curve distribution.

I had Sati in his first semester at UMD. He was a reasonable professor with fair expectations. There was a reading quiz almost every class period, which you would get right 9/10 times if you just skimmed. Total of 25 quizzes, allowed us to drop 5. We had a homework assignment due every week (3-5 hours worth) except for weeks with midterms (12 total, drop 2). Two midterms which were of reasonable difficulty, though the grading was rather lenient. The grading was 25% HW, 15% reading quizzes, 15% each midterm, and 30% for the final. It might have just been the course, but his teaching style wasn't as helpful as just doing the homework. Overall, I would give him a good recommendation.
