Reviews for Peter D. Petrov
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: ENEE359V Grade Expected: A+ February 28, 2011, 7:50 pm | I also took ENEE244 with him but my memory of that class is a little hazier. If you aren't into computers, I can see where his lectures might get a tad boring but if you are interested in computer engineering at all, you should do yourself a favor and take a class from him. This guy is a freaking genius and he will teach you the stuff he considers to be important (which is, not surprisingly, the most important stuff to learn). He expects a a reasonable amount of work (a lot compared to some other professors), which is a good thing. That is how you learn. You are a college student. Live with it. |
| Xin Course: ENEE244 Grade Expected: November 25, 2009, 11:15 am | He should not be teaching an undergrad class, he should stick to the grad classes. He can't teach. He's monotonous, has a thick accent, and just copies stuff from the book to use for his lectures. Don't take him if you don't have to. |
| soccerdma86 Course: ENEE244 Grade Expected: B January 12, 2009, 1:12 pm | Let me start by saying that Petrov is a great teacher. He really knows his stuff, and presents the material well. His lectures are easy to understand if you attend all of them, as they build off of eachother. The downsides: He is kind of boring, and his voice is dull. Also, the language barrier may be a small problem, but after the first few lectures it is easy to pick up on his accent. The book for the class is awful, and there is no real way to study for the course, except fo the notes that you take yourself. Exams: I think that his exams are very fair, especially since he drops the lowest one. They test on the bulk of his material, not the smaller details. If you have been attending lecture and paying attention, you should have no problem with the exams. Problem is that skipping just one lecture really sets you back, because there are no online resources and the book is extremely difficult to follow. Homework: Since there isn't much at all, these make great preperations/study guides for the tests. Recommendation: Take Petrov if you don't have problems attending class/taking notes for a good grade. Very difficult to catch up if you fall behind! |
