Reviews for Katherine R. King
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: WMST250 Grade Expected: B May 13, 2012, 6:00 pm | Signing up for this class was my biggest regret this semester. Don't do it-- it is not interesting and is painstakingly hard for a class that should be fairly easy as long as you keep up with readings and attend/participate in lecture/discussion. There are only 4 projects, no exams in the class, yet it required way more time and effort than it should have. Katie sets standards that are hard to reach, especially if you are not a diehard feminist. The books are expensive and a waste of money. Just overall, this class was not organized well and was disappointing. Katie was not a very clear communicator about her expectations-- especially from a group of mainly freshman who do not know much about women's studies/feminism. I have heard rave reviews about other classes in women's studies, but this one was absolutely terrible. |

| Anonymous Course: ENGL234 Grade Expected: A- January 4, 2012, 9:29 am | This class is NOT an easy A, but if you love reading- and you have enough discipline to meet the reading deadlines and also comprehend the book- then failing will be hard to do. Lectures are very important...take lots of meticulous notes because the information WILL be on the final exam and also on the quizzes. As for discussion, it's a piece of cake as long as you comment and add to the discussion. |
| Anonymous Course: WMST488A Grade Expected: A June 1, 2011, 10:40 am | this class was boring. i sat in the front so that she thought i was interested, and then played on my iphone the whole time. we were supposed to create a final project that was supposed to involve some major thing, like a concert, or creating a club, or creating a website. yeah, none of us did that, we all created a poster saying we were going to and then never did. there's no structure to king's class, no real grades, a fake syllabus. we had readings to do, and we were supposed to discuss them...yeh we just went off topic each time, so i never did the readings, that was a waste of $120 bucks. but w.e. you need a senior seminar to graduate, and since katie's class is easy, just show up to every class, say something, pretend like you're interested, and you'll get an A, and then you'll be done your wmst degree and you'll graduate. |
| Anonymous Course: HESP311 Grade Expected: A November 30, 2010, 10:56 am | LOVED this class. Powerpoint style lectures, which she tries to post before class but if not they'll be up in the next day or two. 2 tests, 1 final, 1 assignment, 3 quizzes on book material, no extra credit. The only time I read the books was for the quizzes, although there are suggested pages for each lecture if you want to read those, but they are not a substitute for class. The material was very foreign to me and you have to put in a considerable amount of effort to do well but its really all memorization. For each test I had about 100 notecards and theres always a section to label a diagram. You also don't want to miss class ever really because you can't get by on the slides alone. If you do have to miss class she is willing to record it and post it online. Attendance is taken but it does not count towards your grade. The teacher was so great, she seemed really happy to be there and she was always available after class for questions or via email. |
