Reviews for Larry L. Hunt
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: SOCY100 Grade Expected: December 16, 2010, 5:43 pm | This class was really hard for me. The material wasn't difficult but Professor Hunt's teaching style was not effective at all. He gets off track a lot and often fails to point out the importance of things. The exams were hard. The multiple choice sections had really ambiguous questions and were also worded very confusingly. In the essay portion, you had to answer very thoroughly and demonstrate a well-rounded knowledge of the subject. I don't recommend him as a professor, try to find someone else or take a different course. |
| Anonymous Course: SOCY100 Grade Expected: A July 28, 2010, 7:56 am | I really did not like his teaching style. I fell asleep in class multiple times, it was just really hard to keep awake. He was pretty monotone. He is a nice guy and he tells some funny jokes. But you don't really take any notes during class since he gives out packets. he won't go in depth on anything unless you ask him about a subject, but even then, if he can tell you're just trying to get answers he'll only humor you. Which isn't a bad thing, but it's just not the easy A I thought this class would be. Also, you MUST go watch the movies that he assigns. I saw every movie but his questions tripped me up because he asked what the ending scene was. It's a lot of memorization and you'll do fine without lecture if you read the book. However, he does have some questions that will be like 'what is your lecturer's opinion on this versus the book?' just to see if you go to class. |
| Myanus Course: SOCY100 Grade Expected: A December 3, 2007, 11:20 am | Dr. Larry Hunt laments on the first day of class that his parents did not name him "Lawrence." This, and other amusing anecdotes help keep the class fresh. The material is easy and I was able to keep up by going to every lecture and reading from the book if I missed. He says he's boring, but he rarely occupied the full time of the lecture, so that eased things. He has awful handwriting, but he uses photocopied packets instead of overheads or the board, so notetaking is light. The exams are multi-choice and paragraph answer questions, which typically require explaining what you learn in class. He also cancels several lectures over the course of the semester in order that we can watch dial access movies, which were enjoyable. |
