Reviews for Romel Del Rosario Gomez
Average Rating:| goofipinay Course: ENEE133 Grade Expected: A- May 23, 2011, 4:43 am | The class was really interesting and fun, but definitely had a lot more work than I expected! We had a lab report due every week, but had so many extensions that we only ended up doing 4 the whole semester. We did end up having two 10-page papers, but it was with a group of 4-5, so it actually ended up being easy to write by the time you ended up learning everything (our last paper was 23 pages single spaced). The TA's were both great, and very lenient when it came to us not understanding something or wanting an extension (they were part of the reason why we got some extensions). He doesn't want you to fail, he wants you to learn. You'll hear that a lot from him. We ended up also having a LOT of extra credit: working Maryland Day, filling out surveys for him, etc. |
| Anonymous Course: ENEE133 Grade Expected: A February 21, 2011, 12:14 pm | This course is very fun, but a lot of work. The work load for this class is ridiculous, especially because it is only a 3 credit class. Its pretty much combining a normal lecture with a lab. There is a lab report due pretty much every single week. There is also a 10 page paper that you have to write with a group and as well as a presentation. Professor Gomez is very cool, very nice, and very interesting, but assigns too much work for this class with sometimes unreasonable deadlines. If you are taking this as a non-lab science, I'd advise you to take phys106 instead, its just as interested, the prof is just a great, and its a lot easier. |
| Anonymous Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: A December 28, 2009, 3:43 pm | Gomez is a very good lecturer. He tries very hard to engage students in the material and makes class "bordering fun" most of the time (one of his ongoing jokes). He has a built in curve for the class so that an 86 is the cutoff for an A, a 70-something is the cutoff for a B, and so on, so it is not hard to do well. The one problem with Gomez is that he makes a lot of mistakes in the questions and solutions for problems. This can become annoying on questions where he tells you the answer and you have to show how to get it, but he gave you the wrong answer by accident! So you will try for hours to get the answer he got, even though you had the right answer in the first place. You will love this class because Gomez is such a cool guy, but it is a lot of work. The hw's take a long time, but this is engineering, so you might as well get used to it. Anyway, Gomez is a great professor overall and I would recommend him to anyone. |
| Anonymous Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: A April 2, 2009, 2:19 pm | He is by far THE BEST PROFESSOR !! if u get a chance to take a class with him don't hesitate ! He is very enthusiastic and teaches the material in a great way. Homework takes a lot of time, but you learn a lot from it. Exams are long but there is no hard questions it's totally fair questions. I think the only reason he makes the exam that long is because everyone gets the material so if he gave a short exam everyone will get A's. The only problem he has is that after taking a class with him, you will hate all professors in the future! I really wish I can take all my EE classes with him ! |
| JeffK Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: A January 15, 2009, 6:06 pm | You will love him, and then you'll miss him for a very long time, and look for more classes with him. The truth is, if you don't take class with him, you'll missed out on the best experience in university. |
| gmac007 Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: B December 24, 2008, 5:54 pm | Dr. Gomez was far and away the most lively teacher I have had since coming to UMD. He always seems to find the material and the class fun, and he tries his hardest to bring the class around to his way of seeing circuits. He does as best as he can to simplify complex topics down to a few key points, making everything much easier to digest. His tests are also very fair; if you can do the homework, you can do the tests, generally speaking. However, the homeworks are not easy. Don't wait to start on them. You get a week for each one, so even if you're a terrible procrastinator (like myself), at least try to make an effort to get started early. It will save you a lot of late nights and early mornings. Overall, great teacher, very helpful, VERY energetic. |
| babygnau Course: ENES100 Grade Expected: December 8, 2008, 9:55 pm | Dr Gomez is a great guy. He's really enthusiastic about the material and gets students excited to learn. Sometimes when giving notes he can be a little sporadic and hard to follow, but overall a good teacher. Very helpful and wants everyone to get an A. |
| Lily la fleur Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: A November 19, 2008, 12:36 am | He is so far the best professor I've ever had. He is so energetic and anthousiastic. He makes students being proud to be engineers. He explains the materials so clearly that we don'really need the book, and he is very helpful(either trough office hours or emails). His exams are very long but are related to homeworks. |
| ProphetElisha Course: ENEE204 Grade Expected: A- September 3, 2008, 2:15 pm | Hilarious guy. He's so animated when he's teaching that there's no way you could fall asleep or be bored. He makes his lectures interesting and his personality makes it fun. The tests are pretty straightforward. You'll know what you need to study and practice. This class is all about practicing the material and the relatively long homeworks is good practice for his tests. |
