This course was team-taught the semester I took it. Dr. Gerratana taught the enzymology portion, which was almost all of the second half of the semester.

She has a strong command of enzymology, given that she's an enzymologist. However, that can actually serve as a hindrance since the material comes so naturally to her. You have to learn enzyme kinetics equation derivations and their adjusted inhibition derivations. It can get pretty frustrating.

The test required a pretty strong understanding of the material presented in class - otherwise you're hosed. She lamented that our class performed the poorest out of any class she had ever taught. I think we had lower than a 50% average on her exam. However, the class is graded on a distribution, so it worked out in the end.

Dr. Gerratana can sometimes be difficult to understand due to her accent. However, she is friendly and willing to help students out when it comes to understanding biochemistry. Her powerpoints are also brief, but cover all that you need to know - there isn't much fluff. Reading the book before class proved immensely helpful. The times that I didn't, I left class wishing I had.
