Reviews for Alison Flatau
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: ENAE283H Grade Expected: A February 3, 2012, 4:51 pm | Reasons Dr. Flatau has good reviews: - She is extremely nice and generally responsive to student concerns - We go on field trips - She gives a lot of As Reasons she should not get good reviews: - She doesn't seem to know how to teach (everybody learned from the textbook, not her) - She assigned homework on sections of the text that she didn't tell us to read (really stressful when you have no idea how to do a problem and then realize its on material you haven't covered) - She showed up late most classes, and repeatedly kept students 5-10 minutes after class was scheduled to end (even though we all have other classes right after) - We covered less information than the non-honors section of the course |

| fiddlerkrt Course: ENAE283H Grade Expected: A- March 1, 2010, 2:52 am | The class was a lot of work, but it was not as difficult as the regular version. Dr. Flatau is extremely nice and very approachable during office hours. The only really annoying thing about the course was the 15-20 page research paper we had to do, but we all got through it. |
| frakking_geek Course: ENAE283H Grade Expected: December 31, 2009, 10:49 am | Overall a good prof. It was a bit more work than expected, but I agree with the review below me that it was better than the regular version for a couple of reasons, like how we got an equation sheet for our exams while the regular section had to memorize everything. You do have to do a 15-20 page paper, but it's bearable. Most people do it over thanksgiving break. Also, she's really approachable about everything. If you have a rough exam week or something, she has no problem giving an extension on homeworks if you ask. However, make sure you ask for everything. She's really nice but seems a bit absent minded so she tends to forget to completey mention all the details. Like for our first exam, she initially kept calling it a quiz until someone finally spoke up and asked "By quiz do you mean exam/midterm?". So again, ask about everything. It is nice though because you do get a couple of field trips too, the main one being the field trip down to Pax River Naval Air Stations where they give you some time in the flight simulators which almost makes up for that 15 page paper. Oh, and another thing, if you're like me, you're going to have to read the book for the class. Her lecture's arn't always helpful as they tend to just become her mumbling into the board or going off on a tangent or something. You're stuck going to class though because the section's so small though. |
| a778999 Course: ENAE283H Grade Expected: A January 18, 2009, 10:38 pm | There are way too many extracurricular assignments for a three credit class. If you have no life and enjoy waking up at 9 am on Saturdays then this class is for you. She seems nice but for some reason I get really intimidated by her. |
| dlangis Course: ENAE283H Grade Expected: A October 28, 2007, 6:10 pm | Shes really nice and grades very generously(if you have any doubt look at her average gpa), plus you get to go on a couple of trips and she cancels class when you do. Not to mention the honors class is only 15 people so its pretty nice. |
