A very nice guy, and a great professor. He does have a slightly annoying voice, but other than that, he teaches the material very thoroughly and is not the toughest of graders.

I disagree with the person below me. Mike Hull is not a bad T.A., in fact I have found him to be one of the most helpful T.A.'s in the physics department.

Dr. Elby is a very good, kind and caring professor. He is always on top of his game and he makes every effort to understand his students. Unlike other physics professors he makes it possible for you to get a descent grade in his class. Even though his exams might be hard at times, but if you prepare and actually study his lecture slides you will do great.

Also, watch out for TA's, some of them can make it a real pain to be in discussions. Like for instance Mike Hull is a terrible TA who strives to waste your time by coming to class with no obvious lesson plan. He pretends that you are the teacher and he is the student. This is a horrible approach because I wanted some clarity and explanation after lectures, but Mike just wasted our time pretending like he knows nothing.
You learn nothing from a person who says nothing.

But all in all this class is not designed to teach you physics, Andy's goal was to teach us ways of determining different ways of finding solutions to various problems that he throws at you. So don't get angry if you don't feel like you are being taught physics "properly". Because you are not.

Not so bad. Just take it if you have to.
