Reviews for Amber Lynn Cohen
Average Rating:| Anonymous Course: ENGL101 Grade Expected: B December 15, 2010, 4:54 pm | I completely agree, she was terrible, never gives any feedback or papers back so you have no idea how miserably you are doing, harsh grader and gives no explanation for well written papers getting D's. she cancelled class a lot which was good but then there was work due in a short amount of time she was late every class weird high pitch voice not very helpful overall |
| Anonymous Course: ENGL101 Grade Expected: November 8, 2010, 12:52 pm | She told us at the beginning of the year that we were not her first priority. She told us if we showed up late to her class we would lose points, but she is the one that ALWAYS shows up late. She hands back our papers 4 weeks after they were completed. She doesnt like telling students their grades when they ask her upfront. |
| rbterp Course: BSCI338N Grade Expected: December 14, 2009, 12:18 pm | This is actually a review for Avis Cohen, not Amber Lynn Cohen. Anyways, Diseases of the Nervous System is a pretty chill upper level seminar. I would recommend taking this class at the same time as BSCI453, Cellular Neurophysiology, because there is a decent amount of overlap in course content. The class is structured so that Dr. Cohen covers a chapter from the book and then students present related clinical cases, with more cases presented during the second half of the semester. There is a midterm, (non cumulative) in-class final, take-home final, and two group presentations about a clinical case worth 15% of the grade. All in all, there isn't too much work to do. There isn't a huge emphasis placed well known diseases like Alzheimer's etc b/c the textbook is a neuroanatomy textbook and doesn't focus on disease mechanisms and Dr. Cohen is a neurobiology prof not a neurologist, which was probably my least favorite part of the course. However, the textbook seems like it will definitely be useful for med school! |
