Average Rating:| defeatthehuns Course: CMLT280 Grade Expected: A November 14, 2011, 6:41 pm | Byrne as a teacher is meh, but he's a nice and approachable guy and the class is very enjoyable in itself. There are weekly writing assignments in discussion which aren't terrible, a midterm, 2 papers, and a final exam. Final exam was a breeze. There is a class blog which you are required to submit one writing piece for. The class blog is a wonderful study tool, especially for the final. Sometimes I wish I could take this class again. The syllabus says this class isn't just "a day at the movies" ...but it kinda is =] complete with people bringing popcorn to class. The movies towards the end are pretty cool. |
| Anonymous Course: Grade Expected: A November 10, 2011, 6:22 pm | Byrne's lectures bored me to tears. He always came late to class, and many times let us out late. Had small assignments every week, like writing a short post and commenting on class blog and discussion board. 2 papers, midterm, and final exam. Extremely easygoing guy, and the work was easy enough. As long as you could prove your point, which isn't too difficult, then you get an 100. Not the most interesting class to take, but definitely an easy A if you do the work every week, which isn't so bad, since it's based on the film that he assigns each week. |
| Anonymous Course: CMLT280 Grade Expected: A January 16, 2011, 4:18 pm | Mr Byrne was a decent lecturer but sometimes lectured for too long so we didn't have enough time to finish the movie. The two essays were easily graded. Some found the movies in the beginning of the semester boring. TAs were very lenient. You are required to post comments on a class blog and for one week, post a response to one of the response questions on that weeks movie. If you forgot to post a comment for a week, TAs would let you make them up at the end of the semester. I would take this class again. |
