Reviews for Cathy W. Barks
Average Rating:| holly87 Course: HONR268T Grade Expected: September 26, 2010, 12:46 pm | Take this class! It’s everything an Honors seminar should be. Dr. Barks makes all the texts and assignments so interesting, and even though you have to work very hard, she’s always willing to work with you to help you improve. I’m a better student now, a better writer, and better critical thinker. I also read a lot more and enjoy and understand fiction (especially fiction about American life) whereas I used to avoid it. |

| ajlohr Course: HONR100 Grade Expected: A+ May 16, 2010, 4:26 pm | The material of the course itself is useless, and doesn't actually help with acclimating oneself to the university. The only reason to show up to lecture is for the attendance points. She has a whiny high pitched voice with a southern accent that it is hard to tune out while doing work for other classes. when Dr. Dorland, the lecturer for the other section came in, it was much more interesting. I would recommend signing up for a different section, but then again, its a guaranteed A anyway. |
| Anonymous Course: HONR100 Grade Expected: A+ April 7, 2010, 1:03 pm | The best days of HONR100 were the days we WEREN'T in lecture with Dr. Barks! The student teachers are way more helpful and informative... her lectures were generally boring and irrelevant--I usually spent the hour working on homework for other classes. Outside of class she is a really nice lady and looks out for Honors students... so I suggest getting to know her without taking her class! |
| Anonymous Course: HONR268T Grade Expected: B November 17, 2009, 2:19 pm | If you are looking at her grade distribution and think her class is easy, you are wrong. There are 5 essays and a midterm project. She grades every essay very hard and if she doesn't like you she wont give you good grades even if your paper is good. Be advised stay away |
| vbury Course: HONR100 Grade Expected: A February 25, 2009, 10:36 am | Easy A, but just time-consuming. I felt like I did way too much work for a 1-credit class. Honestly, a waste of my time for me. |
| kbe12478 Course: HONR100 Grade Expected: A+ May 5, 2008, 9:29 pm | Easiest class, and yet not very rewarding. Not a whole lot of work involved, except for stupid busywork assignments that are supposed to acquaint you with the university. You are taught by fellow students, and basically, you sit there and chat for an hour and a half. |
